The History of Pizzeria Vecchia
The history of Pizzeria Vecchia is one of simplicity. It all began when Giovanni and Sofia Moroder chose to pack their bags in search for a better life in the United States. When they arrived in the city of Janesville in Minnesota, they noticed that their neighborhood had a significant lack of authentic Italian offerings.
Then it came to them: Why not open an Italian restaurant themselves? Born and raised in the Sicilian countryside, the couple are both well-versed in the culinary arts and have years of experience cooking home-style meals back in their native Italy. They began making real Italian pizzas and named their restaurant Pizzeria Vecchia, after the Italian word for “old”. Nothing is better than old-fashioned, authentic Italian pizza, using tried and true recipes passed down for generations. The pizza place brings the rich culinary heritage of Italy straight to Janesville tables.
Our handcrafted creations are sure to satisfy the taste buds and soothe grumbling stomachs. It is the kind of food that you look for when you want something real, fresh, and delicious — just like Nonna used to make. Pizzeria Vecchia brings old-world Italian charm straight to the table.
